We Breathe, We Live: Brotherly Love Protest Stories

A film that uses the power of storytelling to present the first-person experiences of men who participated in the George Floyd inspired Black Lives Matters protests that occurred in Philadelphia during the summer of 2020.

We Breathe, We Live: Brotherly Love Protest Stories presents the stories of seven different men of color from a variety of backgrounds as they tell us what they saw, what they did, what they felt, and as they ask . . . what now?

The film is book-ended with the work of poet and activist Perry 'Vision' DiVirgilio, who created and performs two new original works for the project.

The film was directed by Glenn Holsten and was produced in collaboration with First Person Arts and the Philadelphia’s Engaging Males of Color (EMOC) program, which is part of the Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services.
